A LETTER TO MY SISTER

My Dearest Sister,
I want you to know I understand.
I see you wake up every morning and put on your face for the world.
I understand the façade.
You wear the best mask, don’t you?
Deep inside, you feel your world crumbling-thoughts of what if and feeling like you’re ready to throw in the towel.
You do what you have to because it’s what’s expected.
So much on your shoulders, so many things on your plate.
You get up, work, provide for your family and maintain the household.
THEN….Repeat
The pressure to continue being the rock while not losing yourself is overwhelming.
You’re lost in proving yourself as a woman, being a mother, and wearing so many hats for others.
Forgetting that it’s YOU that makes it all happen.
BUT
I SEE YOU
I see you take the long way home so you can have a few extra moments to yourself.
I see the tears you cry because you feel like your best may not have been good enough.
I see you breakdown in the shower because it’s the only place you can cry away from your kids.
I see you struggling to breakthrough past hurts and present disappointments.
DESPITE IT ALL
I see the beauty you possess.
I see a world that would crumble if you didn’t exist.
I see little hands and feet following after you, because Mommy makes everything better.
My sister, Remember!
You matter!
Taking time for you is important and not selfish, but a MUST!
You are not alone
I understand.
I feel you.
AND
I SEE YOU!!
